The Ducks Volunteer at Feed My Starving Children

Fuzzy Duck Volunteers

Last month some of the Ducks took time to volunteer at Feed My Starving Children (FMSC) in Chanhassen. The process began with an eye-opening video featuring the children in third world countries whom we would be helping, followed by an instructional process demonstration via the friendly staff. We caught on quickly and happily rolled up our sleeves, anxious to get started heaving each cup of rice, and soy, as well as the spoonfuls of vegetables, chicken flavoring, and vitamins into each meal bag. As our session drew to a close we learned that between our two groups we packaged over 28,000 meals. That amount feeds approximately 78 children for an entire year!

Fuzzy Duck VolunteersFounded in 1987, FMSC is a non-profit organization dedicated to reaching out to those in need around the globe. Their efforts to reduce the world’s hunger began with a Minnesota businessman who experienced a desire to cultivate a process of substantial aid after a humanitarian visit to Honduras. In 1989, FMSC joined together with food scientists to develop a nutritional food formula. Finally, in order to reach children in secluded parts of the world, the FMSC team partnered up with major global distribution non-profits and missionaries to supply hot, nutritious meals to those in deprivation.

FMSC supplies life saving meals to malnourished youth in almost 70 countries. We left FMSC with Warm Fuzzy Feelings knowing we had made a difference in the lives of 78 underfed children. If you would like to donate to the organization or volunteer to package meals, information can be found on their website www.fmsc.org
